I can not forget the performance of Kendrick Lamar last year at the Grammy Awards. I use the term performance here because, in my opinion, it was a masterpiece. He performed a medley with as central part his song How to Pimp a Butterfly. Being himself a black man living in the United States, his proximity to racism is impressive. He began his song with black men all chained to each other. While Kendrick is also handcuffed, he sings with emotion, aggressiveness and passion. It is to the rhythm of his rap, that the other characters make gestures that look very much like those of the first blacks who served as a slave. In short, it would probably be possible to analyze this perfomance and make it into a doctoral thesis, but it seemed essential to me to make it clear that this performance was reaching a crucial point in America on the eve of the election of Donald Trump and to the awakening of tolerance.
