Canadian Prison System

Dear class,

Just want to let you know that for Thursday we'll have guests come in at 1pm who'll give us a run down on the Canadian prison system. They'll talk for 30 minutes or so about their organizing and give crucial information about what is going in Canada right now regarding incarceration policies,  give an introduction on the idea of prison abolition, and make connections between communities on the outside of prison and communities in prison. This will be complimentary to when Rachel Zellars comes in the week after to talk about her work on transformative justice.

    The statistics related to remand are actually mindblowing. I can't believe that this is new information to me, thanks so much for the link.
